The Mighty Richland Players have
offered a combination dinner and theatrical performance at the
Orangeville, Illinois, Masonic Lodge/IOOF Hall since 2001.
We are an all-volunteer sub-group of
ACT, A Community Together, which is a non-profit community
development organization. Now entering our eighth season, we offer
seating for 54. Book now for the best selection and the shows you
want to see!
History: The Mighty Richland Players was modeled on the Goldenrod Showboat that toured the Mississippi and was docked near the St. Louis Arch from 1926 through the 1970s. Meals: Our meals are catered by Tammy Jo's Restaurant here in Orangeville and feature everything from comfort food and vegetarian dishes to holiday specials. Location: Productions take place in the Orangeville Masonic Lodge on the south side of High Street, across from Cramer Funeral Home. Built in 1876, the lodge hall is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Italianate Victorian design structure recently underwent a $150,000 restoration and continues to serve as the only meeting place for the village's fraternal orders. Announcements: Join us for our 2009 season when we offer five Dessert Theaters and one Dinner Theater! Productions include "Bosh and Moonshine," a musical comedy starring national playwright Mike Craver in May; "Murdered to Death," a murder mystery comedy in September; and a Christmas Madrigal in November. Print out our Order Form, enclose your check, and mail them both to MRPDT, P.O. Box 22, Orangeville, IL 61060. Call us at (815) 819-1310 for more details. A Community Together (ACT), the non-profit organization dedicated to the development of the greater Orangeville area, recently received a $3,000 grant from the Donald V. and Britta A. Peterson Memorial Fund of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois. The grant will be used to support the show season for the MRPDT and to perform shows in several venues during the year, including Stockton, Galena, and Freeport, IL. The money is in addition to a $1,000 grant from the Freeport Arts Museum Community Arts Access Grant Program and a $4,010 grant the Freeport Community Foundation presented to ACT in December. The grants will help defray costs for bringing internationally famous playwright/composer Mike Craver of Lexington, N.C., to perform in the second show of MRPDT's eighth season. "Bosh and Moonshine" will be performed in Stephenson, Carroll, and Jo Daviess counties in May, with Craver reprising the role of Mould, the friendly undertaker. "Bosh and Moonshine" will be directed by Paula Fulton of Stockton. Craver co-authored "Radio Gals," MRPDT's blockbuster Broadway musical, performed last season.
